A new long awaited Lithuanian movie – new release of “Tadas Blinda. Pradzia”. It is a record breaker movie in Lithuania. The story is often compared to English epic hero of Robin Hood.
Tadas Blinda is a legendary Lithuanian outlaw of 19th century was first made into a popular film in 1973. It featured a handsome leading man, dramatic hand-to-hand combat and feats of horsemanship, and the beautiful scenery of Lithuania’s green landscapes – it was an immediate success.
Although at the time the film was released with the approval of the Soviet government, many of its viewers interpreted the movie as a veiled reference to the Lithuanian guerrilla movement who, living in the forests, continued to resist the Soviet occupation during the 1940s and 1950s.
A new 2011 version is the first historical action movie released in Independent Lithuania after 40 years from its original version. Immediately it became a huge success in the country and is being scheduled to be showed around the world with International Premier in London’s Leicester Square.
